Can we analyse God?
I read an article in a leading newspaper about Ram-setu controversy ,in which the writer has taken those people to task who are opposing the Ram-setu project on religious ground ,saying that they are opposing the project on a frivoulous logic and that there is really no scientific evidence to prove that Ram actually existed , leave alone the validity of the so called bridge made by his vanara sena.In short, the writer was wholly in agreement with the Tamil Nadu CM even though it is a different issue that this whole muck was raised by Karunanidhi for political purpose.
Now ever since this controversy started, I have gone through innumerable TV coverages, articles and debates on this issue both for and against the Ram-setu therefore I don't want to add anything more on this. Also, I won't comment on my stand on the issue. I believe in the principle "to each his own".
Instead, I want to comment on a very deep spiritual issue about God's existence itself. He may be Ram,Jesus or Allah ...in whichever way you visualise him.
Can we intellectualy analyse the existence of GOD?
I have been spiritually inclined for a long period of time. After having read a lot number of books, and some very good books on the subject, I have come to the conclusion that one cannot intellectually analyse God.
You have to experience HIM to believe HIM. It is not a demonstrative exercise. Uptill now no scientific tools have been made to 'show' the existence of God. But still we have enough men of God who have declared that they have seen God and that they are one with Him.
Surely all of them can't be charlatans.
It is like Heisenberg's principle. According to Hiesenberg principle one cannot determine the position and momentum(velocity) of an electron at a same time.If you determine the exact position of a revolving electron, you cannot determine its exact velocity and vice-versa.
Approximately the same thing goes with God.
If you start logically analysing Him, then you can't experience Him and if you have experienced Him then you don't need to analyse him .For people of god ,they themselves become the creator and the created. There is no dichotomy. They don't see their own self and God differently. Therefore they can't analyse Him from any other perspective .
One must understand that faith and logic are at the two opposite end of spectrum. They cannot meet.If you have faith, then that faith must persist even if it is against common sense.
History is full of people belonging to both ends of the spectrum.
On one hand there was Mirabai who was drunk with God.On the other hand we have Bhagat Singh who refused to believe in God. Does that make Bhagat Singh any lesser person in the eyes of God? I don't think so.
Personally speaking, I do believe in the existence of God even though I haven't seen Him though I have experienced His power subtly.
I also think that we human beings are endowed with hidden strengths which needs to be aroused and make full use of to experience God. It is unwise to declare anything as a bluff if we can't observe it with our naked eyes. Beyond everyday reality which we see and feel with our minds, there is a hyper-reality which we can't see with our limited vision.
Seeing hyper-reality is not easy. It is a most difficult task on earth. One has to go through a strict routine of discipline and perseverence to accomplish this task.
There are many ways of God realisation. They are Gyan Marg,Bhakti Marg and Yoga Marg(Sorry,I remember these three only).
I think yoga(or meditation or Dhyaan) is the most practical way to achieve this. There are different planes(or layers) of God realisation. In total there are seven planes. One starts meditation on the first plane. To reach the second plane itself is very difficult task. It requires hours of meditation, discipline and sincerity. People who reach the seventh plane become one with God. They acquire various astral powers like the power of leaving their own body at will(samadhi) or even having dual existence(physically being present at two different place at the same time).
Some of the most influential books which I have read on the existence of God is 'Autobiography of a Yogi' by Paramhansa Yogananda and 'Many Masters,Many Lives' by Brian L Weiss.
I suggest that those who are interested in matters related to spirituality, go through these two books.
Happy Reading!!
